TAG Heuer MERIDIIST Exclusive Editions

TAG Heuer MERIDIIST Exclusive Editions
April 5, 2011

The MERIDIIST Communication Instrument travels the globe, with seven new models that define the character of each urban destination.

Seven cities, seven styles: From New York to Shanghai, Tag Heuer celebrates what it means to be a global citizen, striding across the meridians.

For over 150 years, TAG Heuer has crossed time barriers, serving at the forefront of international racing competitions to define fractions of a second and track the meaning of speed.

TAG Heuer Exclusive Editions brings the MERIDIIST back to its core identity.
Derived from the word Meridian, the MERIDIIST is an instrument designed to traverse global demarcations.

The distinctive combinations of fine skins, leathers, hues and finishes express through the subtleties of design the associations of each city’s history, architecture, and the energy of the people who live there the soul of these diverse centers of luxury and regional power.

All Exclusive Editions are equipped with a GMT function, allowing users to operate between dual time zones by base reference to Greenwich Mean Time, the universal standard based in the United Kingdom. Both Special Edition and GMT are engraved on the rear camera plate as a future collectors distinction.

Selected Cities, Selected Styles

Every material, leather or exotic reptile skin of the MERIDIIST Exclusive Editions is sourced within the strictest industry standards, from controlled breeding farms or certified wildlife areas. Mississippi Alligator from America in camel and grey; Scottish calfskin tinted black with a glittery finish; Varanus Niloticus (Lizard) in red; Argentinean Tupinambis Rufescens (Teju) in green, blue and burgundy; These supremely refined materials are sourced as globally as the cities their design represents.

GMT: London. As the reference point of GMT, against which time worldwide gains relative meaning, London is also a major financial and cultural centre with a civilized, intelligent buzz about town. The Gherkin Tower inspires this Exclusive Edition in grey Alligator and 316L Stainless Steel, recalling the bullet‐like strength of the Gherkin Tower standing distinctly against the city skyline.

GMT +1: Paris. In burgundy Teju contrasted with a 316L Stainless Steel core body, this deeply sophisticated combination symbolizes the red wine from the Burgundy region, that is just one of the rich cultivations and delicious delights in French gastronomy.

GMT +3: Moscow. This stunning display of red Lizard, against the black PVD finish on 316L Stainless Steel, recalls Moscow’s Red Square as the political centre of the city. The pure, ruby red lizard vibrates as the pure colour of power.

GMT +4: Dubai. Camel‐toned Alligator skin on the back battery cover of the Exclusive Edition evokes the earthy sand and arid desert of the region, while the 316L Stainless Steel body represents the advanced architectural structures of Dubai that stand strong amidst the vast and mysterious desert.

GMT +5:30: New Delhi. Opulent emerald green Teju and black PVD coated 316L Stainless Steel echo the majestic palaces and precious jewels of India. In the Hindu religion, emerald green also symbolizes abundant joy, faith and fertility.

GMT +8: Shanghai. The city’s name literally means Upper Sea, which inspired the selection of ocean blue Teju to represent the city that is sometimes called the Paris of the Orient. As one of the most dynamic cities in the world, its growth is stirring as deep as the ocean blue.

GMT ‐5: New York. The vivacious energy of Manhattan nightlife inspires this 316L Stainless Steel model with a black Calfskin battery cover. The leather is dashed with a glittery finish to represent the glamour and diverse dynamism that only the New York streets can provide.

Each model is exclusively engraved on the right side with the mention ‘‘Special Edition’’ and the name of the corresponding city.

This set of seven Exclusive Edition MERIDIIST Communication Instruments, in special editions, will be exclusively sold in TAG Heuer boutiques starting May 2011. Let the journey begin.
