Vertu, the leading manufacturer of luxury mobile phones has launched a carbon fibre edition of its Constellation Quest handset. Engineered using high performance materials combined with luxury finishes, Constellation Quest Carbon Fibre takes its inspiration from the world of motorsport and aeronautical design.

“Constellation Quest Carbon Fibre is Vertu’s first product to combine its smartphone technology with this most contemporary of design materials,“ said Perry Oosting, Vertu President. “The result is a product that gives those customers who prefer the sporting aesthetic the opportunity to have a qwerty device incorporating the latest business tools.”

Constellation Quest Carbon Fibre features a matte black PVD body with detailing in polished stainless steel or polished 18 carat gold. Surrounding the pillow, the polished stainless steel or gold detailing features a new step-design, unique to this product, giving a more geometric styling to this component. The navigation key is finished in polished black PVD, as are the turn key, flash and lens surrounds, forming the essential design DNA of Constellation.

Vertu has crafted the pillow and battery cover from lightweight, ‘2X2 / 1K’ carbon fibre. Using a two strand over two strand construction, with each strand comprised of 1000 fibres, this carbon fibre finish has been chosen specifically for its outstanding uniformity and depth of weave. It is therefore exceptionally pleasing to the eye. Positioning of Vertu’s V logo in the pillow has been achieved by precision drilling into the carbon fibre’s resin coating and then filling with a UV resistant ink.

The phone’s nose and chassis are finished in black pyramid embossed leather, a finish that is entirely new to Vertu. This material combination of embossed leather and carbon fibre creates a striking visual and physical tactility. Complementing the aesthetic of this new model are two new software themes which feature representations of the carbon fibre and pyramid embossed leather seen on the phone’s outer.

Ceramic in black and white as well as lacquer in six colours are already modelled in the current collection.

Fully integrated with Vertu Concierge, bookings at the suggested restaurants or events can be made by via the dedicated concierge button on the customer’s Vertu handset.

The information for each destination within Vertu City Brief is split into the following categories: Protocol; The Knowledge; What’s On; Eat and Meet; Spend; Editor’s Choice. Within each category there will be recommendations for different occasions; for example should a customer be in New York for the day and require a dinner reservation, Vertu City Brief will offer a suggestion for dinner with friends and also dinner with clients. The Protocol category offers suggestions to make the customer feel in tune with their new location such as local greeting customs, preferred ways to travel and advice on tipping. Current exhibitions running at art galleries are updated as are new store openings and dates of local events.

Introduced with the launch of Constellation Quest in October 2010, vertu.me is a service that provides the user with a Vertu email account and effortless harmonisation of the device’s lifestyle and business tools. Should the customer choose, the user’s emails, contacts, calendar and task information can be automatically synchronised with Vertu’s secure servers, giving the benefit of protected back up of their data.

Vertu offers the consumer complete peace of mind. Should the handset be lost, this data can be retrieved and seamlessly downloaded to a replacement phone. The system also ensures that whenever the vertu.me account is accessed, whether from the phone, a home or office computer (PC and Mac) or via the web, this information is up to date.

Vertu Remote Assist

Currently available with Constellation Quest, Vertu Remote Assist is dedicated to providing technical assistance 24 hours a day and is a unique offering in the mobile phone market. Should a customer not be able to resolve an issue with a Constellation Quest handset via instruction from Vertu’s technical support team, with the user’s consent, a technician can remotely access the phone in order to resolve any technical or set up queries.

The first Vertu boutique was opened at Rue Royale, Paris in 2002. In addition, the products were made available in some of the world’s leading department stores such as Selfridges, Harrods, Galeries Lafayette and Lane Crawford . Other boutiques were opened in key locations around the world in the years that followed, including Bond Street, London, Via Montenapoleone, Milan, and Orchard Road, Singapore. The company’s retail reach has since dramatically increased, particularly in the last five years. As at February 2011, Vertu’s products could be purchased in more than 600 stores in 66 countries worldwide, including more than 80 Vertu boutiques.

The Baselworld trade show in 2010 saw the unveiling of a new global store design concept which has since been rolled out across the world. The new interior design draws much greater inspiration from the product range. When arriving at a store, the façade features an interpretation of a design element of the SIM card drawer in the Signature handset, a motif that is also incorporated in the inside of the store. The in-store counters are fashioned from brushed steel and soft black leather, both materials used extensively across the Vertu product range. Moreover, the Vertu V has been integrated into the shape of the legs, door handles to create a synergy between the products and their visual presentation. To complement existing Vertu store concepts instead of contrasting with them, warm grey and silver tones have been utilised.

The same attention to detail in product design and craftsmanship can be seen elsewhere in the new store design. The lighting for the display cabinets and window displays, for example, has been consultant designed to produce an effect that is much like natural daylight; this allows the consumer to see a more true representation of the product.

An introduction to the Vertu brand, services and products is provided by a new electronic brand book, the pages of which are projected onto a wall for viewing. The book provides an insight into the culture and values of Vertu as well as the product portfolio, should the customer prefer not to be guided by a sales consultant.

GMT: London. As the reference point of GMT, against which time worldwide gains relative meaning, London is also a major financial and cultural centre with a civilized, intelligent buzz about town. The Gherkin Tower inspires this Exclusive Edition in grey Alligator and 316L Stainless Steel, recalling the bullet‐like strength of the Gherkin Tower standing distinctly against the city skyline.

GMT +1: Paris. In burgundy Teju contrasted with a 316L Stainless Steel core body, this deeply sophisticated combination symbolizes the red wine from the Burgundy region, that is just one of the rich cultivations and delicious delights in French gastronomy.

GMT +3: Moscow. This stunning display of red Lizard, against the black PVD finish on 316L Stainless Steel, recalls Moscow’s Red Square as the political centre of the city. The pure, ruby red lizard vibrates as the pure colour of power.

GMT ‐5: New York. The vivacious energy of Manhattan nightlife inspires this 316L Stainless Steel model with a black Calfskin battery cover. The leather is dashed with a glittery finish to represent the glamour and diverse dynamism that only the New York streets can provide.
